Black Eyed Susan (Rudbeckia)
Black Eyed Susan (Rudbeckia)
Black Eyed Susan - Rudbeckia - Native Wildflower Heirloom Biennial Flower Seeds
Black Eyed Susan is a super useful and low-maintenance plant that can handle dry conditions once established. It's also really easy to grow, so it's perfect if you're not an experienced gardener. The large yellow blooms bring a burst of cheerful color to the summer landscape. These plants stand up straight and can reach a height of about two to three feet. They're perfect for placing at the back of your flower bed or letting them grow naturally in a more wild, natural style. They give you beautiful flowers that bloom all the way from the middle of summer until late in the fall. This plant is a native species, which means it's great for attracting all sorts of helpful pollinators like bees and butterflies. Create a bee and butterfly garden by planting it alongside other prairie favorites such as Purple Coneflower and Butterfly Weed. One of the things that makes Black Eyed Susan so awesome is that it can handle tough conditions and not-so-great soil. Black Eyed Susan is a biennial plant, which means it completes its life cycle over two years.

PLANTING
Rudbeckia hirta
Germination: 14-21 days
Seed Sowing Depth: Seed needs light to germinate - sprinkle seeds over the soil surface and gently press them down so they make contact with the soil. Do no cover with more soil. Place under a very bright light (grow lights) to help them germinate.
Sowing: I recommended that you start in pots 6-8 weeks before your last spring frost date. They are slow germinating and growing so by starting in pots you can monitor them better.
