The Carlos muscadine grape is a standout variety prized for its sweet, bronze-colored fruit and vigorous growth. This self-fertile muscadine grape is ideal for home gardeners, as it doesn’t require a pollinator, ensuring reliable fruit production year after year. Known for its high 16% sugar content and juicy texture, the Carlos muscadine is perfect for fresh eating, juicing, or making wine and jams. This hardy, disease-resistant vine thrives in warm climates and is well-suited to the southeastern U.S., where muscadines flourish. Add the Carlos Muscadine to your garden for a low-maintenance, flavorful harvest that will delight you every season!

Ideal Growing Conditions
Muscadine grapes thrives in warm, humid climates and is ideal for USDA hardiness zones 7-11. It prefers full sun, requiring at least 6-8 hours of direct sunlight daily to produce a strong crop of fruit. This variety grows best in well-draining soil, with a slightly acidic to neutral pH level (around 5.5 to 7.0). If your soil is heavy clay or poorly draining, amending with organic matter can improve its structure.

Muscadine grapes require regular watering, especially during the establishment phase and in dry periods, but they do not tolerate waterlogged soil. Aim to keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy. A deep watering schedule, about once a week, is usually sufficient, although more frequent watering may be necessary during hot weather.

For optimal growth, apply a balanced fertilizer (such as 10-10-10) in early spring, just as the vine begins to grow. Additional light feedings every 6-8 weeks throughout the growing season can help boost fruit production.
