Florida Garden Heirloom Seed Collection Gift Set (6 varieties for the price of 5)

This seed collection was specifically designed with Florida gardeners (or hot southern gardens) in mind. These are the toughest cultivars I have ever grown. I grow all of these veggies & flowers straight thru the summer. They boast high disease and pest resistance. Some are native to Florida and thrive without much care. If your located in Florida or zones +8, you must grow these at least once. This is a great gift idea for new or experienced gardeners, alike. The seeds are packaged together in a beautiful printed A6 envelope so it is ready to be gifted (see first photo). By purchasing this pack, your getting a discount at 6 packs of different herb varieties for the price of 5.

INCLUDED IN THIS SEED COLLECTION

1. Seminole Pumpkin - This is a native pumpkin to the south and Florida that thrives in sandy soils. It has a decent disease and pest tolerance. Once it starts growing mature/adult leaves, the worms tend to leave it alone as they prefer tender baby leaves. I like to cut the pumpkins in half, add some dabs of butter, and bake in the oven just as you would butternut squash. Planting- can direct sow 2-3 seeds per hill. My favorite method is to place seeds on a wet paper towel and place into a ziploc bag. Place the bag on a heat mat until you see the seed split open and the tap root start to grow out. Then take the seeds and transfer into some soil/seed cells.

2. Everglades Tomato - This tomato came from South America and naturalized in Florida. It actually can be found growing in the Everglades. The plants are super productive and disease resistant. I don't water or fertilize mine at all. They grow and reseed easily all over my garden. They taste just like any tomato and are a currant size. I like to roast them in the oven and toss with pasta. Also an easy crop to grow to feed chickens. Planting - This tomato can take up to 1 month to germinate. For some reason it is slow to germinate so I suggest sowing in seed tray/cells and putting them on a heat mat to speed up germination.

3. China Jade Cucumber - This is a burpless Asian variety of cucumber that tolerates hot summers and high humidity exceptionally well. What is very awesome about this particular variety is that every female flower is self pollinating (parthenocarpic). That means every female flower will set fruit making it perfect for growing in a green house or area lacking in pollinators.

4. Rattlesnake Pole Beans - This pole/vining green bean variety grows under a wide range of conditions from dry/humid to cold/hot. Very productive and easy to harvest the beans off the vines. Pods have beautiful purple streaks when exposed to sun light. Tastes just like green beans. Planting - Direct sow. Will need something to climb on. Vines are very thin and get around 8 feet long. Sow a bunch close together (9 seeds per square foot).

5. Alexandria zucchini - This hybrid variety boasts high heat tolerance, disease resistance, pest resistance, and high production. I always have this growing in my garden and found all of these features to be true. I normally don't grow hybrids. However, there are a few hybrids that are so amazing that I make an exception. Produces large light green zucchini.

6. Zinnias - These grow and bloom almost year round here in Florida. Plants get tall (3-4 feet) and produces large 3-4 inch blooms in multiple colors. They tolerate hot and dry conditions like a champ. Plus, beneficial insects and butterflies love them. They are easily direct sown or can start in seed trays/cells. Once the plants are +4 inches, transplant into a full sun spot in the garden.
