Jumbo Banana Winter Storage Squash Heirloom Vegetable Seeds

This is a massive variety of winter squash. They can get up to 4 feet long, but it is recommended to harvest at around 30 inches or less for best texture. The squash is ready to harvest when the skin is too hard to be pierced by your fingernail and the stem that attaches it to the vine has started to dry out. Cut it off the vine, leaving 3 inches of stem still intact which will help it store longer. If the entire stem breaks off the squash, then use immediately. It is recommended to cure the squash in the sun until the stem is completely dried out before storing. Some people report the squash storing for 4 years if kept in a cool dry place. This squash is great for canning and baking.

Germination: 5-10 days

Seed Sowing Depth: 1" - 1 1/2” deep

Sowing: Direct sowing is preferred after the last frost. In warmer climates can also direct sow at end of summer for a fall harvest. Just make sure there is a minimum of 120 days before the first frost so you can harvest before winter comes.
