Moringa Oleifera LIVE Starter Plant AKA Tree Of Life Super Food Plants
Botanical name: Moringa oleifera

Listing is for one rooted plant. Plants are grown in 72 cell trays so that they will be rooted but small enough for efficient shipping. Check out my YouTube video "Live Plant Care Guide & Delivery Unboxing for my Customers" for further instructions on what to expect with your live plant delivery and care tips: https://youtu.be/BmPw4rKLwDk

Moringa oleifera is a fast-growing subtropical, drought-resistant tree. Common names include moringa, drumstick tree, and horseradish tree. Leaves are typically used to make a caffeine-free tea. The leaves can also be dried and blended into powder form so it can be added into smoothies. The leaves are considered a super food, as it is packed with antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, and high in plant based protein. It also contains all eight essential amino acids. Moringa contains 7x the Vitamin C found in oranges, 4x the calcium of milk, 4x the Vitamin A of carrots, 3x the potassium of bananas and essential trace minerals such as iron and zinc. Does best in zones 9 and warmer as it is a tropical plant. It is very fast growing and the leaves/branches are used for "chop and drop" garden practices and composting. The leaves can be soaked for a few days in water and then blended to make an all natural fertilizer. Can also be used to feed chickens.

Check out my how to harvest moringa YouTube video tutorial that shows techniques for drying the leaves, turning the leaves into a fine powder, and two recipes for all natural moringa garden fertilizer:

Growing Conditions
USDA Hardiness Zones: 9 and up. Smaller plants will need frost protection until they reach maturity. In colder zones 8 and below, you will have to grow in a green house, or bring in doors for the winter, or setup outdoor cold protection.

Hardy down to 32F. Protect young plants if temperatures drop below 40F.

Perennial

Self-fertile

Sun: Full sun or partial shade

Height at maturity: Moringa can get up to 40 feet high at maturity. It is common to cut the tree down to its trunk to make it continuously put on new growth. I maintain my trees at around 10FT tall so harvesting is easy.

Soil: Everything grows best in soil that is heavy in composted organic matter BUT moringa grows great in poor soils without amendments, like my native Florida sandy soil.

Fertilizer: Use citrus fertilizer. My favorite is Espoma organic granular citrus-tone. Fertilize young trees to encourage lots of healthy growth with about 1/8 cup every 1.5 months. Once trees are established, I don't fertilize. I'll throw some fertilizer its way a few times a year, starting in spring to help "wake" up the tree.
