Green Arrow Sweet Shelling Pea Heirloom Vegetable Seeds

This is a popular heirloom variety of sweet shelling pea, meaning the pod is not edible, instead the sweet peas are shelled out and eaten. The flavor is super sweet. I snack on these as I work around the garden. Harvest regularly just as the peas inside are swollen but before the outside pod dries out. Frequent harvest will keep the vines producing over a longer period of time. Needs trellising/poles to grow on. Vines are not too long compared to other pea cultivars, staying around 3-4 feet, but still very productive.

Follow me on social media because I talk a lot about the same seed varieties I sell here in my shop and gardening tips. IG, YT, and TikTok: jerrasgarden.

Listing is for 1 packet of 20 seeds

PLANTING

Pisum sativum

Germination: 4-10 days

Seed Sowing Depth: 1” deep

Sowing: Direct sowing after the last frost date is preferred. It can get tricky trying to grow in warmer climates like zones 8 and higher. Snow peas absolutely do not like heat. Too much heat will stunt their growth and crisp the leaves. My garden is in zone 9B and I squeeze in a quick harvest by direct sowing in November and growing straight thru winter and into early spring.

Harvest: Harvest once the seeds inside start to swell. For fresh peas harvest while the pods are still green or for storage/dried peas, harvest once the pods are dried out.
