Sugar Daddy Snap Pea Heirloom Vegetable Seeds

This is my favorite snap pea variety to grow. The entire stringless pod is consumed. They are best harvested just as the peas inside the pod start to swell. The flavor is super sweet. I snack on these as I work around the garden. Harvest regularly which will keep the vines producing over a longer period of time. Needs trellising/poles to grow on.

PLANTING

Pisum sativum

Germination: 4-10 days

Seed Sowing Depth: 1” deep

Sowing: Direct sowing after the last frost date is preferred. It can get tricky trying to grow in warmer climates like zones 8 and higher. Snap peas absolutely do not like heat. Too much heat will stunt their growth and crisp the leaves. My garden is in zone 9B and I squeeze in a quick harvest by direct sowing in November and growing straight thru winter and into early spring.

Harvest: Pods are ready to harvest just as the peas inside start to swell.
