Suyo Long is a unique ribbed cucumber cultivar that originates from China. It produces very long cucumber, sometimes up to 15 inches long, with ridged sides. While they may look unusual, the skin is thin which doesn't require peeling. The flavor is sweet and the texture is crunchy.
One of the great advantages of this variety is its adaptability to different climates. Whether you're dealing with hot weather or other conditions, these plants are well-suited to thrive. They have a strong ability to withstand heat and begin producing fruits early in the season, ensuring a fruitful harvest.
For optimal results, I recommend growing these plants on a trellis. By providing support for the vines, you'll encourage the fruits to grow straight and well-formed. This not only enhances their appearance but also makes them easier to harvest.
It has a pretty high leaf disease tolerance. By the time the plant succumbs to leaf diseases such as powdery mildew, it has already produced tons of cucumbers. I don't spray with any chemicals and can grow organically because of this. Harvest them on the young side to avoid a seedy middle, for the best crunchy texture, and sweet flavor. On average produces harvestable cucumbers 2.5 months from transplanting into the garden.
