Tromboncino Rampicante Huge Italian Heirloom Zucchini Squash Vegetable Seeds

This is one of my absolute favorite things to grow! Tromboncino Rampicante grows long vines to support huge baseball bat sized squashes that when picked young, can be used just like zucchini. Everyone who comes into my garden stops to admire this large vegetable. It grows practically year round in Florida. The vines are very strong and once the plant is established and growing large mature sized leaves, the pests have a tendency to leave the plant alone. Adult sized leaves have small spikes and are tougher for chewing insects to bite on compared to other more tender leaved crops. Just make sure to take care of the seedlings/transplants and treat at the first signs of worm/caterpillar damage until the plant gets to maturity.

I grow 3 plants which is more than enough to feed my family of 3 and give some away to family and friends. Its super productive. If you harvest when the skin is still light green, it can be used just like zucchini. The skin is thin and edible at this stage. I like this better than traditional zucchini because the texture is more firm (doesn't get soggy when cooked like zucchini) and it has a more buttery flavor. If you allow the squash to continue to mature on the vine, it will start turning a tan color and form a harder exterior rind. In this stage it is treated like a winter storing squash.

I highly recommended that you grow this vertically on something that is very strong to support the squash. The squash will grow nice and straight if grown vertically. It can be grown on the ground where it will ramble in all directions. However, squash formed on the ground will have a curled shape.
